Travel Tip #6: check alternative flight routes

Is the route you want to fly too expensive? Don’t give up yet; check prices on flights to and from nearby airports which may be cheaper.

Use Skyscanner’s cheap flights map to see which airports are close to your destination, and how much it will cost to fly there. Sometime savings can be made to the less well known airports which may be just a few hours from where you want to end up. This is especially true during popular travel times to sporting events, such as South Africa 2010

In a recent Skyscanner survey, 20% of flyers said they would go 50 miles for cheaper flights - so don’t book until you’ve checked out all the options.
