A restless city, moving at a frenetic pace and ever on the edge of invention, New York remains one of the most iconic cities on the planet.

Why? There is just so much to do in New York, it’s so vibrant and never stops. You can feel the adrenaline as you walk the streets.
And that’s all you really need to plan for in New York. There’s culture, arts and elegant shopping wherever you look, of course, but the real buzz of New York is it’s like walking through a series of villages. Don’t plan too much, New York works best when you let yourself explore.
Stay: Central Manhattan – try The Hudson Hotel. Or the Gansevoort in the trendy Meatpacking District if you want to reenact the rooftop pool scenes from Sex and the City.
Eat: As much as you can! The food is excellent almost everywhere – try Catfish Tacos at the Miracle Bar & Grill, Bleeker Street in Greenwich Village. Pizza at Grimaldi’s in Brooklyn on Old Fulton Street down by the Fulton Ferry pier, followed by ice cream sundaes at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory and a walk back to Manhattan across the Brooklyn Bridge. The Red Cat on 10th Avenue for delicious food in an elegant setting. Or Balducci’s deli on 8th Avenue for, well, everything…
Don’t Miss: Cocktails at the top of the Marriot in Times Square. Or in the stylish art deco surroundings of the Viceroy on 8th Avenue. Or if you’re feeling a bit trashy try Trailer Park on West 23rd for seriously good frozen margaritas and Tater Tots by the basket.
When you’ve spent all your money on good food and high living, take a trip past the Statue of Liberty on the Staten Island ferry, it’s free! Or clear your head with a walk in Central Park. Then start all over again with Sunday brunch at the Empire Diner on 10th Avenue.
Do Miss: Being late for your flight home – New York traffic can be slow!
Top Tip: Get to the main attractions early in the day to avoid queues.
