Redevelopment work starts at Leeds Bradford Airport

Work has started on a £70 million redevelopment project at Leeds Bradford International Airport.

Phase 1 and 2 of the improvements started last week and will see changes made to the car parking facilities and terminal approach at the airport.

A designated taxi zone will be created as part of Phase 1, which will also see improved access for the airport shuttle service.

The second stage will include a new pick-up and drop-off zone, redevelopment of the short-stay car park and improvements to the existing pedestrian walkways.

"We are delighted that development has commenced and are very confident that these works will ensure the continued success of Leeds Bradford International Airport," said John Parkin, chief executive of the airport.

"We are determined to improve the quality of services we provide to our passengers and this investment will deliver a significant enhancement to our car parking and public transport facilities."

The airport recently welcomed plans from Air Southwest to increase the number of flights to Plymouth it offers from Leeds Bradford.
