Air India flights from Toronto to Amritsar will be routed via London Heathrow from the end of October.
The carrier previously ran three services per seek via Birmingham International Airport to the popular tourist destination in the north of India.
However from October, the airline will offer flights departing from London Heathrow instead.
The move will see the airline competing with two other major operators offering routes from the UK's capital to Toronto in Canada.
It also follows Air India's withdrawal of services between Heathrow and JFK Airport in New York.
The previous Birmingham to Amritsar route will now be taken over by Bilga Air. Surinder Kanwar, director of the airline, said: "We are very excited about launching our new operation and serving both those who want to explore the wonders of northern India as well as the Asian community who wish to reunite with their families."
Nine out of ten of these replacement services will be direct.
