Data Acquisition
Our Engineering team has a number of internship opportunities for undergraduates this summer, running from June to September. We’re looking for bright and enthusiastic developers to join a core part of our business - Data Acquisition. Working closely with other Skyscanner teams, our interns and new graduates collaborate with both technical and non-technical staff to increase our global coverage and help maintain our 600+ airlines and travel agent links.
Based in our Edinburgh HQ located at Quartermile near the University of Edinburgh, you’ll help ensure that web scrapers and data sources are reliably providing accurate information to our millions of users. To do this, you’ll need knowledge of a scripting language (preferably Python), some database experience and a good general understanding of web technologies.
Application Engineering
Our web developers use ASP.NET, C#, and JavaScript to develop web applications that push the boundaries of travel search; our data acquisition team use Python, SQL, and XML skills to ensure that our coverage is second to none; our database gurus are Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008, Transact SQL and SQL Server experts developing and managing the systems that process hundreds of millions of price quotes every day; and our marketing and commercial specialists have depended on the work of the rest of the team to grow the business from 1 million to 16 million visits per month in four years.

We have options to continue working with us throughout your studies on a part-time basis as well as repeated full-time summer work which may open up permanent opportunities if available.
