Projects can either be enhancements to existing products – such as adding the ability to search for rail journeys along with flights – or can be focussed on creating entirely new products.
For every project there is a team that includes a technical manager, software engineers, and testers. The team may also be joined by an architect if the project is particularly complex. When a project impact users directly – for example, by changing the way search results are presented on the website or mobile applications – then a user interaction designer will also be of the team.
All products have to work in over thirty languages and need to be able to scale to the tens of millions of sessions we get every month. Many of the things we do have never been done before, and go beyond what other currently-available technologies can achieve. There is great satisfaction to be derived from designing and building products that meet these challenges and are relied on by over a million people every day.
