Hotels in Sanya

With over 12 miles of pristine coastline, glorious year round weather, and excellent surfing, it’s easy to see why Sanya is often referred to as “China’s Hawaii.” The city is backed by lush green mountains and has plenty of interesting sculpture gardens to explore. Gastronomy and nightlife are both excellent, but the tropical beaches are definitely the biggest draws.

Most of the accommodation in Sanya is concentrated in three zones: Sanya Bay, Dadonghai Bay, and Yalong Bay. Sanya Bay is most popular with domestic tourists from the Chinese mainland, and is in the western suburbs of Sanya city. Sanya Bay has a long stretch of beach lined by huge resort hotels, and is less windy than Yalong Bay. While the weather here can be warmer, Sanya Bay’s beach is less attractive than the other two main beaches. Room rates are usually lower here as a result, so it’s a great place to find a bargain.

Dadahonghai Beach is less than a mile from downtown Sanya and is a favourite with Western tourists. It offers the perfect combination of laid back beach holiday and lively city break. There are hotels here for every pocket: whether you’re looking for a luxury five star hotel or just want a no-frills hostel to relax in after a long day of hitting the surf.

Yalong Bay is definitely the jewel Sanya’s crown. The pristine beach is complemented by luxurious resorts and golf courses. Lounge on the peaceful white sand beaches, dip your toes in the clear waters, and treat yourself to a spa in one of the hotels by the beach. Rooms here can be a lot more expensive, but if you’re looking for a high-end beach holiday it’s worth spending a little extra.
