Hotels in Stuttgart

The capital of the German state of Baden-Württemberg, Stuttgart is a big city with small town personality. There’s beer, there’s ballet, and there’s a strong motoring tradition: Stuttgart is home to the headquarters of Mercedes Benz and Porsche. Stuttgart is definitely a great place for a relaxing yet cultural city break.

Stuttgart is in Swabia, a cultural region of Germany with its own dialect. Although the accent takes a bit of getting used to, the people of Stuttgart are extremely warm and friendly.

There are plenty of places to stay in Stuttgart. From high end hotels and luxury apartments to cosy B&Bs and backpacker hostels, there’s something for every taste and budget. The city centre of Stuttgart is small enough to get around by foot, making it the perfect base if you’re planning on doing a lot of sightseeing during your trip. Hotels on the outskirts of the city are usually cheaper, and like all German cities, the public transport in Stuttgart is efficient and easy to use.

Stuttgart has an extensive festival calendar, and it’s worth knowing what’s on before planning your trip. Hotel rooms tend to book out quickly or increase in price while the more popular events are taking place. Look out for the Weindorf wine festival in September, and the Volksfest at the end of September/beginning of October. This is Stuttgart’s answer to the Oktoberfest, and is quite popular. There’s a huge summer festival in August, a street music festival in July, and of course a huge Christmas market in December.
