Hotels in Al Ain

The Garden City of the UAE, Al Ain is a lush oasis in the heart of the desert. As well as offering a break from the harsh landscape of the desert, hotels in Al Ain also offer peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of nearby cities Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Al Ain has plenty of forts, markets, and lush date palms, and it’s a great spot to do some chilled-out sightseeing.

Accommodation in Al Ain tends towards the luxurious. Many of the top global hotel brands have a presence in Al Ain, with excellent resorts and glistening modern hotels in the city centre. There are lots of family friendly hotels in Al Ain, and the city has plenty of interesting attractions for younger visitors. The huge zoo and safari park are worth a visit. The Al-Khrair Animal Souq, where traders sell goats and camels, is also a popular destination with families. Some of the friendly traders will even let little ones sit on the livestock (for an added fee, of course).

Al Ain is known for its long history, which dates back thousands of years. Currently Al Ain is the only place in the UAE to have nabbed itself a coveted spot on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The fortress on the city’s main street is definitely worth a visit. It was originally built to protect the lush date palm oasis, and was once the headquarters of Sheikh Zayed before he became the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi. Today the fortress is a museum which shows how people lived in the region before the UAE was founded.

Nature lovers will enjoy a relaxing afternoon walking through Al Ain’s famous oasis. Another trip worth making is to the Green Mubazzara park, which has hot spring spas and a number of designated barbecue areas.

Al Ain is similar to other cities in the UAE when it comes to nightlife. Alcohol isn’t widely served, and for the most part can only be found in hotel bars catering towards Western tourists. There’s a great dining scene, however, with restaurants serving up a wide range of foods. There’s something for every taste and budget in Al Ain: just don’t expect a bottle of wine with your meal.
