Hotels in Sydney

One of the world’s most beautiful and easy-going cities, Sydney has something for everyone. There’s a lively nightlife for party animals, a thriving art scene for culture vultures, and great surfing beaches for water-sport fans. Add world-class restaurants, excellent shopping, and a burgeoning start up scene to the mix and it’s no wonder that Sydney constantly takes home travel and lifestyle awards.

Sydney is a huge, sprawling, city. When you’re choosing your hotel, make sure you’re near the places that you want to be near. For everything else, you can use the city’s fantastic public transport system.

If you’re not sure which part of the city to base yourself in, here’s a quick guide to the main attractions.

City East

If you enjoy lying on the beach during the day before partying the night away, look for hotels in City East. There are more than 20 beaches to choose from, including the famous Bondi Beach. As you move towards the city centre you’ll find the Inner East neighbourhood, and the famous laneways: a trendy area packed with restaurants, bars, and pubs.

City Centre

With a skyline to rival Manhattan, Sydney’s city centre is a bustling business district where locals gather to work and play. This is where you’ll find Sydney’s famous harbour, presided over by the iconic opera house. The crowds tend to disperse after dark, but you can still find a bit of nightlife on George Street and Liverpool Street.

City South

The best part of Sydney for budget travellers, City South is where you’ll find low-cost hotels, cheap eateries, and bargain shopping. It’s a popular dining destination, with lots of multicultural restaurants to choose from. There are lots of internet cafes here too: handy if you’ve forgotten to print out your boarding card or just want to check your emails.

City West

The Star casino dominates the City West skyline, but don’t worry: there are plenty of low key restaurants and bars to choose from too. Many of the bars also offer accommodation, a great alternative if you don’t want to stay in a standard hotel. Neighbouring Darling Harbour is where you’ll find boutique hotels and other luxury options.
