JetBlue is a low-cost airline which operates in the USA. They fly to a range of domestic destinations in the USA as well as further flung holiday destinations including the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and Mexico. JetBlue isn’t a member of any of the major airline alliances, but has codeshare agreements with around 32 other airlines. This includes their international partnerships with Aer Lingus and Lufthansa. JetBlue have their own frequent flyer programme, True Blue, and in 2013 they announced that TrueBlue points will never expire.
How to Check In
You can check in online from 24 hours before departure up until one hour before departure. On domestic flights, you can check in online up to 30 minutes before departure. You can also check in by mobile, or check in the old fashioned way at the airport counter. JetBlue recommend arriving at the airport 120-60 minutes before departure if you’re flying to a domestic destination, and three hours before departure if you’re taking an international flight. JetBlue also offer a remote check-in service which is available at a range of locations including hotels, convention centres, parking areas and rental car areas. They’ve also recently made the service available on cruise ships.
Baggage Allowance and Fees
Each passenger can bring one bag weighing up to 23kg, and measuring no more than 62”. Additional bags are charged at $50* (about £31) for the first bag, and $100* (just over £62) for the third. VAT is also applicable, depending on where you’re travelling to and from.
Seating – Leg Room, Choosing Seats
Seat pitch is between 32”-41” in economy class, and 58”-60” in Business. JetBlue offer Even More Space seats for passengers who would like extra legroom. These seats come with early boarding, and on some routes also qualify for Even More Speed security access. These seats offer a very comfortable 38” of legroom. The cost of the seat varies by route, so it’s worth checking when you book your flight. Prices start at $10* (about £6.20) each way.
There’s a $25* (about £15.60) booking fee if you purchase your tickets over the phone or at a contact centre. Other than that, there are no extra charges.
Meals, Snacks, Drinks
JetBlue offer complimentary snacks and soft drinks on every flight. If you’re really peckish you can choose something larger such as a sandwich or salad from the on-board menu. Alcohol can also be purchased on board, with a range of beers, wines and spirits to choose from.
