Wizz Air is a Hungarian low-cost airline, based in Budapest, serving over 30 countries across Europe and the Middle East.
Wizz mainly operates from smaller or secondary airports to keep costs low for both the airline and the customer.
Wizz is your go to airline for cheap flights in and out of Eastern Europe. Regular flights to Katowice and Warsaw make Wizz a good choice for flights to Poland as well. Subsidiary operators in Poland, Hungary and Bulgaria mean Wizz offers flights all over Europe.
How to check in
You can check in online between 14 days and 3 hours before your flight time. However, online check-in is not available at every airport. If checking-in online the boarding pass should be printed and presented with your traveling documents. Web check-in is free, but there are check-in fees if you check in at the airport. Check-in can be purchased on booking or via their Add Services page for a fee of 10 EUR, check-in purchased at the airport is subject to a higher fee of 20 EUR. If the web check-in service is not yet available from your departure airport, airport check-in will be free until the service becomes available.
Baggage Allowance and Fees
Each person is allowed to carry-on 1 bag and an item such as a coat or reading material. Carry-on bags less than 42cmx32cmx25cm which can fit under the seat are free of charge. Larger carry-on bags which can fit in the overhead bin incur a fee calculated on the scheduled flight time and date of flight. A total of 6 pieces of checked-in baggage per passenger is allowed. Each piece of baggage checked-in is subject to a fee payable per flight and per passenger. The first 3 pieces can be purchased online, and the rest purchased at the airport for a higher fee. When flying with Wizz Air Ukraine the first piece of checked-in baggage is free of charge.
Wizz Air does not provide assigned seats. However, you can pay extra to be among the first to board the aircraft. You can also pay for a seat with extra legroom. The seating is standard non-reclining and seats are 18 inches wide.
Wizz Air accepts payment by all the usual methods including cash deposits and bank transfer, which must be made within 24hours of booking. Wizz Air has removed credit card fees and introduced a flat €7 administration fee on all bookings.
Meals, Drinks and Snacks
A selection of snacks and drinks is available to purchase with either cash or certain credit cards. There is a choice of snack boxes, baguettes and alcoholic drinks, soft drinks and beverages.
