From its hub in Nicosia, Cyprus Airways flies to over 14 destinations across Europe and the Middle East. The airline has won a few awards, including the 2007 ‘Commitment to Excellence in Europe’ award and the ‘IATA Best In-Flight Programming for a European Airline’ award. Although it’s not a member of any airline alliances, Cyprus Airways has codeshare agreements with a number of airlines including KLM, Virgin Atlantic, and Etihad Airways. They have their own frequent flyer programme, SunMiles.
How to Check In
Online check-in is available between 23 and 3 hours before departure. You can also check-in via mobile. Your boarding card will be emailed to you, and you can save it as an image. Once you arrive at the airport, show your smartphone screen to the boarding agents. Self check-in kiosks are available at Larnaca Airport, and there are plans in place to roll them out to other departure airports soon.
Baggage Allowance and Fees
Economy passengers can bring one piece of hold luggage weighing up to 23kg free of charge, while Business passengers can bring two pieces weighing up to 32kg each. Gold Card SunMiles members can check in an extra piece of luggage whichever class they’re in, and Silver members flying economy can bring a bag weighing up to 32kg. There are also special deals for students, military personnel, and seamen. Fees for extra baggage are based on where you’re travelling. One extra piece of baggage weighing up to 23kg on journeys between the UK and Cyprus cost £40*, a 32kg bag costs £70, and subsequent bags cost £60 or £90 depending on weight class. *Prices subject to change
Seating – Leg Room, Choosing Seats
Seat pitch is a fairly standard 32”, offering a comfortable amount of legroom for most travellers. You can choose a seat when you check-in.
There’s an online booking fee of €4* (about £3.10) per ticket. The booking fee rises to €15* (about £11.70) if you use the call centre or book at the airport ticket desk. *Prices subject to change
Meals, Snacks, Drinks
Hot meals and complimentary soft drinks are served in both Economy and Business class. Business class passengers also have the choice of wines and spirits.
Cyprus Airways are a fairly punctual flight, with around 75% of flights arriving and departing on time.
