Driving hide 

Munich Airport was purposefully built further from the city centre to as not to be a hindrance to local residents. It therefore takes around 45 minutes to reach the airport by most means of transport, but thanks to efficient and fast road and transport networks is is easy to reach Munich Airport despite the distance.

From Munich – Take the autobahn and the A92 towards Deggendorf, taking the exit sign posted the airport. You can also take the B11 or B13 from Mittlerer Ring to avoid the autobahn.

From Deggendorf and Passau – Take the A92 and the Freising-Mitte exit or from Passau the B388 or the A94 autobahn following signs to the airport.

Travelling to Munich by car can take as little as 40 minutes but it does depend on traffic.

Trains hide 

The airport S-Bahn rail link S1 travels from Munich Airport via Neufahrn, Moosach, Laim, Munich Hauptbahnhof (main station), Marienplatz and Ostbahnhof. At the Hauptbahnhof (Main Station) and Ostbahnhof, passengers can transfer to mainline and regional train services.

The airport S-Bahn S8 rail link travels from Munich Airport via Ismaning, Ostbahnhof, Isartor, Marienplatz, Karlsplatz/Stachus, Hauptbahnhof (Main Station), Laim and Pasing and Herrsching.

Journeys are efficient and fast taking approximately 40 to 45 minutes to get from Hauptbahnhof (main Station) to Munich Airport.

Buses hide 

There are several bus services that connect to Munich Airport and the surrounding towns. Buses depart from the front of Munich Airport, just a few steps from Terminal 1 and 2 and take approximately 50 minutes to reach the centre of town.

Lufthansa operate an airport bus that runs 3 times an hour and can be used by all passengers regardless of which airline they have travelled on. It goes to the Hauptbahnhof (Main Station) and takes about 40 minutes.

Taxi hide 

Terminal 1 operates a taxi rank taking travellers to the centre of Munich from departure level E04 right in front of Modules A-E.
Terminal 2 operates a taxi rank from the north of the arrival level E03. Taxis are an expensive way to travel, depending on traffic and distance.
