Getting to & from the Airport

Driving hide

Edinburgh Airport is about eight miles west of the city centre. The airport entrance is reached from the A8 Glasgow Road, close to the M8 and M9 motorways.

The A8 airport junction is between the Gogar and Newbridge roundabouts. If coming from Edinburgh, join the A8 from the city bypass and follow signs to Glasgow. If you're coming from the north or west, join the A8 at the Newbridge roundabout and head towards Edinburgh, then follow signs for the airport.

There is a drop off area outside the entrance to the airport, while those collecting people should follow the signs to the Short Stay Car Park, a short walk from the terminal. There is a long stay car park with courtesy buses to the terminal building.

Trains hide

No trains run to the airport.

Edinburgh has two main rail stations; Waverley and Haymarket, both in the city centre. Taxis and buses run frequently between the airport and train stations if you have an onward journey to make.

Buses hide

An efficient and cheap way to reach Edinburgh Airport from the city centre is on the Airlink 100 service bus. Eight miles west of the city centre the journey takes approximately 20 minutes with buses departing every 10 minutes from 0700 to 0020 between Waverly Train Station and Edinburgh Airport. A night bus, the N22, also runs between Waverley station and the airport.

Taxi hide

There are three options for taxis at Edinburgh Airport, with separate ranks for each.

Private hire Airport taxis can be found outside the UK Arrivals end of the terminal building. Pre-booked private hire taxis can be booked via Edinburgh City Private Hire. The rank is located on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park, opposite the terminal. Black cabs can be found outside the UK Arrivals end of the terminal building, leaving throughout the day and night.
